Beware When Looking For Affordable SEO

There are many SEO companies these days offering you all sorts of affordable seo services. With the literally billions of web pages around, there is certainly room for many seo companies to work in the field. Off course, with this vast market, there are many unscrupulous operators around. Many of these take shortcuts with your website and the consequences to your webisite can be catastrophic. So what are some of the things to look out for when choosing an seo company to look after your website?

One of the major promises the unscrupulous seo companies make is that they can get you on the first page of Google in a relatively short time like a week or so.  It is literally impossible for any company to promise you that as there are too many factors involved. If they promise you that, then walk the other way. To get first page rankings sometimes can take many months to achieve depending on the level of competition. Also watch out if they say they have a special relationship with Google or any other search engine. No one does!

If the SEO companies own website is not listed by Google in its index, then that should serve as a red flag. They don’t necessarily have to have good rankings for the site as far as I’m concerned as sometimes they are too busy to worry about that because they have a lot of word of mouth referrals. But if their site isn’t even indexed by Google, then chances are they have been banned and you only get banned by Google and other search engines for doing some major unethical tactics over a period of time.

Whatever company you choose, it doesn’t matter if you aware of their ‘black hat’ bad seo practices or not, the penalties still apply and it may take many months to repair the damage that can be caused by unethical practices if ever. If your business relies on the web for orders etc to survive, then think twice before hiring an SEO company. The damage to your business could be catastrophic. Always get references from some of their clients to make sure that they operate within the search engine guidelines. That’s why at The Expert SEO Company we are willing and able to give you references to satisfy you that our work is always above board and of the highest possible standard.

What It Takes To Be A Good SEO

That’s a loaded question I guess if I ever saw one. What does it take to be a good seo? A few things actually but it’s a simpler answer than one might think.

seo professional

The first thing that is needed is patience and a lot of it. SEO isn’t an overnight job. Sometimes you can put in many hours of work and not see any measurable results for a few months. Sometimes it does feel like you are going around in circles as it’s the same thing over and over again. But once the results are there, they are usually very rewarding.

You also need to have a bit of business insight. You need to be able to look at a clients website and understand what it is they are trying to accomplish with it and in what direction they are heading in. There is no point in trying to optimize a site when you don’t understand the clients business.

Content writing skills is another requirement for a good seo. Firstly you need to have patience when doing a keyword search for your clients. You also need to be able to write a great article and be able to integrate all the chosen keywords for that article so that it all makes sense and is a fluent read. I have read so many so called ‘articles’ by some that is just a bunch of words put together to stuff it with keywords. Not a good read at all and the search engines will pick these things up eventually. No sense in trying to bite that hand that feeds you.

Off course, most seo companies now hire people who have only one or two of these skills and put them in a team and they specialise in that area of the seo tasks. Nothing wrong with that. But, I do think that everyone should know how it all works together. SEO is like a jigsaw puzzle in many ways. There are quite a number of pieces that go into it and individually they are just meaningless pieces. But put them all together and in the proper order, they are transformed into something that makes sense and people can see the bigger picture.

Use Word Of Mouth To Find An Affordable SEO Company

We all want to be on the first page of the search engine results for our websites. Using Word Of Mouth To Find An Affordable SEO Company is the way to go.  There’s so much misinformation out there that it’s hard to tell who is right and who is wrong.

The simple fact of the matter is that most so called seo professionals are nothing of the sort. Some use really bad seo practices which ends up getting their clients web site either really low in the rankings or worse still, they have the web site banned. Just last week I heard of a case of an seo company from India charging a major company here in Melbourne Australia over $40,000 to get their site on the first page of Google.  Well, they did, but with only one keyword and that keyword doesn’t have much competition to speak of. The rest of their keywords are languishing somewhere in cyberspace as they don’t get a ranking at all. And these great results happened after a few months after they signed the agreement with this company.  I nearly fell off my chair when I was told that by a potential client of mine. No one should ever and I mean EVER have to pay $40,000 to get their site on the first page of Google.

The best credentials an seo company can give you is a good verbal reference from one of their clients. Anyone can give you a list of results from some random website and say that that was their work. Get them to prove it. Talk to one or more of their clients and find out what they are really like. Also, I don’t see the need to pay attention to how well their own website is doing as an indication of how good they are. I have been doing seo for a few years now and I only just set up a website a couple of months ago. It’s rising in the rankings but as I always say, seo is a patience game and I don’t have much time to worry about my own site and I dare say, a lot of other seo people are like that too. I only have it there so people can read what I’m about and they have some sort of a reference point.

The bottom line here is don’t believe everything you hear and read. The best reference always is word of mouth. That’s how I have kept busy and my results speak for themselves. So, to find an affordable seo company that actually delivers what it promises, talk to some of the clients they might mention on their webpage.

How Much Is Fair To Pay a Content Writer?

seo content writingIf you are starting a new web business and want a copy or content writer to write some articles for you so that you can do some article marketing for seo, how much is a fair price to pay a content writer? The prices out there do vary upon experience and quality. A few questions would be pertinent to ask here.

1. How much should you pay for his services?

2. Is he able to deliver on time?

3. Does he charge by the word or an article as a whole?

There’s no point in hiring someone to do it for you if they are the cheapest but cannot deliver the goods on time. In content writing, everything is negotiable and is not set in concrete. You should remember too that many content writers tend to over book themselves so even if they give you a deadline, don’t be too disappointed if they say to you your articles will be a few days late. It’s just the way the industry can be at times. Just leave a few days either side of your projects so that deadlines do not matter all that much down to the hour.

Content writers will usually expect the fee upfront so be prepared for that. The only reason they charge the upfront fee is they are gauging how committed you are to the endeavour. When you talk to them, you know that they have the goods but they don’t know if you do. They will share enough so that you can make a decision.

If  you find a dependable content writer , you should do whatever it takes to establish a relationship with him or her because they can make your business sky-rocket.

Affordable SEO or Google Adwords?

When you build a new website, the question you will face is “should I use an affordable seo company or should I just use Google Adwords“?  Both options may take up more of your budget than you might be expecting. However, there are a few factors you should take into consideration before taking on one or the other.

Firstly, you should decide on a budget and stick to it. With adwords for example, you can set a daily or monthly budget so once it’s reached, then you wont receive any more impressions on a results page for the keyword that you chose. This can be very limiting depending on your budget off course.  However, for a new website, this might be a good way to get some instant brand recognition as well as that much needed traffic to your site. An affordable seo company can set this up for you and advise how it all works.

With an seo campaign, it may take several months before you see any return on your money. In that case, maybe a campaign of adword might be what your site needs to give it that traffic boost. In saying that, a page optimization campaign  should be high on your list of priorities too. If you have a huge cash flow for the next 6-12 months, then by all means go sick with adwords. That’s a great position to be in but if you are like most new or establish businesses on or off the web having to keep a watchful eye on their cash flow, then making your web site work for you on its own might be a better way to go. Using an affordable seo company can optimize your site so that a search engine will find your site with your chosen keywords and, in time, be displayed on the first page which is the preferable place to be.

If you are anything like most new web site owners, then you will want to try and do everything yourself including seo. Nothing wrong with learning new skills I say. But, can you afford the time to be learning a new skill, reading as much info as you can without really knowing what advice you are getting is actually helpful or harmful to your site in seo terms? Most of us will answer no to that question. Seo is a skill that’s learned over a period of time and the last thing you want to be doing is trying out new techniques when you should be concentrating on running your business.

This is the time to be looking for an affordable seo company while your website is still new and fresh to make sure it’s set up properly so as to really maximize its earning power. After all, you have spent good money on it and what would have been the point in that if no one can find it?

Content Writing For SEO

seo content writingA commonly asked question in seo is “do I need a minimum number of words on my web page to gain better search engine rankings”?

Basically, the answer to that is a simple No.  For good content writing a few rules should be kept in mind. Search engines look for keywords so it can tell what your site is about. That is why it is very important to make sure that you write your content for people and not for search engines. I have seen many web pages so full of keywords that the text does not really make any sense whatsoever to anyone trying to read it. Obviously the whole idea of a web page is to get as many visitors to your site as possible and if it makes no sense at all, people will leave thus you have missed your objective altogether.

I know that many people go to seo forums and read that you need to have a minimum of 500 words or so but in reality that is not so. You have to be careful what you believe with these forums as the information that goes around tends to be sometimes very naive or misinformed. The best place to go is to the search engines themselves such as  the Google Webmasters page or Google Analytics page. There you will find the best information about what Google likes and doesn’t like on a web page. It’s free and only takes a few minutes to set up on your web site.

A few things you should keep in mind when writing content for your website:

1. Headings

Wherever possible, your heading should be in H1 tags. For sub headings, H2 or H3 are good too.

2. Relevant Content

Make sure that the content of your page are relevant to what your site is about. Don’t use your keywords an excessive amount of times. Once every 100 words or so is a good rule of thumb to work by.

3. Each Page Should be Different

No one wants to go to a site where all the pages are the same as that is obviously boring. You have to engage the reader and make your site as interesting and relevant as possible. If its not interesting to your readers, it certainly wont be for any search engine either.

The main thing to keep in mind here is to keep it simple, relevant and engaging to your readers. Don’t overdo the text. If its too cramped with text, most readers will loose interest very quickly. Get to the point and use a style that will keep your readers on the page. Even if you rank high with the search engines, if your content is irrelevant and boring, you will lose readers. That’s where the revenue is and not where you are placed in the search results.

So You Want To Start An Online Business

You might have reached a point in your life where you want to do your own thing as far as a business goes. Well, good on you! There’s nothing like the feeling of being in charge of your own finances in business. The choices are endless as to what type of business you can get into and the formats are endless too. Retail, wholesale or even an online business can be very profitable. But, before you charge off and quit your job, start thinking about how you are going to make the move without breaking the bank in the process.

If you decide on the online business format, here’s a few things you should think about first:

1. Does the product or products you wish to sell have enough demand? All too often people get into businesses and try and sell items that they have a passion for which is great, but, does anyone else have the same passion as you? In other words, is there a great enough demand for that product or service to sustain a business?

2. Do you have a Unique Selling Proposition (USP)? In other words, are you just going to copy what everyone else in that niche is doing or are you going to be a little different in your approach?

3. Is your website clearly optimized to sell your products or is it a site when a person arrives on it is greeted with a ton of flashing banner ads that confuse the heck out of them? I hate them and I quickly move on and I’m sure others do too.

4. Maybe try and use video on your site to promote a product or service. It’s not that hard these days as any cheap or free video editing program can do it. If you have a digital video camera, shoot a simple yet creative video to promote your site or product. However, don’t overdo the length or the use of too much video either. That can be a little off putting for your potential customers.

5. This is probably the most important step. Have you spoken to an SEO professional to help you with the optimization of your site so that search engines can find you? You should do this perhaps even before you choose a domain name or anything else. They can offer you some helpful tips on how to choose a good name so that you can avoid a potential disaster down the track. What’s the point in spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a website that no one visits because of poor optimization?

Call us or email us at the Expert SEO Company before you pay or set up anything and we can help you through the maze of what is the World Wide Web.

A Day In The Life Of An SEO Professional

The day of an SEO professional starts like this: wakes up in the morning with thoughts of the dreams he had the night before about websites and spiders. After a  strong cup of coffee, heads off to work with thoughts of fixing errors, finding links and writing articles. Grabs a second cup of coffee.

There’s a lot of talking to clients giving them reassurance that results will be coming very soon and to be patient. Others  call  to thank him for the rankings which just came and the results are good. Added to that he reads a lot of posts that Google has changed the rules and will change the rules more often just to keep things interesting and then grabs another big cup of coffee. Goes home after a long day and tries to get 404 errors, Google bots, Yahoo and Bing bits and pieces out of his head only to find that he dreams about them in his sleep.

However, with all that in mind, there’s nothing I want to do more than being a SEO professional.
